Cannabis is still sold in imperial fractions of an ounce in Canada, which confuses everyone at first. Here is the whole system.
The ladder
One gram. An eighth is 3.5g. A quarter is 7g. A half is 14g. An ounce, or zip, is 28g. A quarter-pound is 112g. A half-pound is 224g. A pound is 448g.
What each looks like
A gram is one medium nug or two small ones. An eighth fills a small jar. An ounce is roughly a sandwich bag packed loose. Density changes appearance a lot: dense indica strains looks smaller than airy sativa at the same weight.
Where the savings are
Per-gram cost drops fastest between an eighth and an ounce, then again at the bulk weed tiers. Buying two eighths instead of a quarter is the most common way people overpay.
Joint math
A standard joint holds 0.5g, so an eighth is about seven joints and an ounce about fifty-six. That is the easiest way to work out how long an order will last you.
