Shatter is the most common Canadian extract and you do not strictly need a rig to enjoy it.

Break off a rice-grain piece, lay it on packed flower, and light the edge gently. Simple, wasteful of some vapour, but effective.
Twaxing a joint
Warm a thin strip between parchment, snake it along the inside of the paper before rolling, and roll slowly. Burns hotter, so smoke it slower.
A dab pen
A basic concentrate pen with a quartz coil costs less than a rig, wastes nothing, and travels. Check the vapes shelf.
Temperature
Low and slow tastes better. Above 315°C you are burning terpenes and getting harshness for no extra effect.
Storage
Parchment in an airtight tin, cool and dark. Warm shatter turns to budder — harmless, just a texture change.
